Mission of the department:
The department supports the university achievement for high quality education by applying the international best practices and advanced experiences. It also aims to contribute for the university to be among the leading higher educational institutions in a country and beyond.
Purpose of the department:
The department serves to establish links and relations with foreign universities, educational institutions, research and training centers. It also serves to contribute for academicians to share knowledge and experiences with foreign scholars and to adopt the good practices in teaching and research activities. The department coordinates and supports for student and teaching staff exchanges with foreign institutions. The bottom line is that international educational relationships and knowledge transfer leads to improve the quality in education. Beside they accelerate the country’s educational program strategies and economic as well as social prosperity.
Objectives of the department:
- to legitimize and monitor the implementation of memorandums, agreements, contracts which are done between NamSU and foreign educational institutions and research centers according to regulations;
- to coordinate the international visitations by foreign academicians, partners and experts to NamSU;
- to attract the international investments, educational fundings of donor organizations to improve the education;
- to coordinate and assist the teaching staff, students, researchers in their applications for international fundings, scholarships and research grants;
- to coordinate and assist the teaching and administrative staffs, students, researchers for their documentations of international study trips and visits to foreign countries;
- to support and assist the teaching and administrative staffs, students, researchers in their application for study grants of ISTEDOD foundation which they will have a chance to attend short term training courses in western and leading Asian universities and educational institutions.
- to establish links with diplomatic missions, embassies, international organization which are accredited by the government of Uzbekistan.
The short description of current collaborations:
To organize the teaching process using the latest scientific achievements and according international standards is a significant issue at present. This why, our university has intention constantly to widen the collaboration with leading educational institutions in the world. For instance, within the Tempus project we are working on proposal about applicability of quality assurance in Uzbek universities managed by Wageningen University in Netherland, European Network for Quality Network and other EU institutions. “Development of Educational, Research and Innovation Capacities of Universities” proposal project is going to submit this year, and it is managed by University of Cumbria (UK). The proposal on “Central Asian Language Educator Development Project” is going to submit and it is managed by KIMEP(Kazakhstan). Within the completed Tempus project DESIRE UM-JEP-23155-2002, we still continue collaboration with Vienne technological university in Austria and Munich technical university in Germany.
Besides the educational links are existed with Kansas university (US), Oslo University(Norway), Linkoping university (Sweden), Kassel, Humboldt, Leipzig, Freiburg universities and Max-Planck Institute in Germany, Latvian distance learning center, Moscow State University, Ioffe semiconductors Institute in Saint-Petersburg, New Bulgarian university, Cordoba university (Spain), Hiroshima university (Japan), Shanghai university (China), Malaya university, National university of Malaysia, Mara technological university, International Islamic university in Malaysia. The collaboration consists of teaching staff and students exchange, participation in training and research programs, individual mobility visits. The funding comes mainly from such as ISTEDOD foundation, DAAD, Swedish Institute, MTCP, JFDP, JICA international programs.
University has good relationship with KOICA program of South Korea. In this regard, the Korean Language Center established at the Faculty of foreign languages, and there conduct training courses on Korean language and IT skills.
The department of English Language has actively participating in international events and it has good links with British Council and universities in USA. Department of German Language has active collaboration within the DAAD program of Germany and good links with Geothe Institute.

The planned tasks:
- Three Structural measures projects submitted for Tempus 2011 round with EU universities.
- We are keen to join Erasmus Mundus projects if it is in educational and research development, joint master or PhD programs. Currently our teaching staff, studens, and researchers are applying for TARGET, MANECA, TOSCA projects’ mobility programs.
- In 2011, we are planning to provide the teaching staff and researcher’s active participation in ITEC training program applications which they will have opportunities to attend 8 weeks training courses in India.
- In 2011, we are planning to develop proposals to get research grants of Gerda Henkel program. The proposals will be developed by the research staffs of the faculty of history. The main topics are in archeological discoveries in Namangan region, sources studies in medieval manuscripts in Kokand Khanate.
- In 2011, the department will assist for teaching and research staffs to increase their numbers of international referred publications and making reports in international conferences.
